An active soloist and chamber musician, Hong Kong born pianist Cindy Yan Yan Ho performs extensively in both Asia and Europe. Recent highlights of her performance include chamber recitals at the Second Shenzhen Piano Music Festival and Shanghai Concert Hall. In 2013, she performed “Yellow River Concerto” with New Tune Chinese Orchestra at Hong Kong Cultural Centre and collaborated with Romer Quartet performing Medtner Piano Quintet at Good Music this Lunch organized by Hong Kong Sinfonietta. In 2005, she was invited to make a concerto appearance with the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet and Symphony Orchestra at the City Opera House, Ho Chi Minh City, performing Liszt’s second Piano Concerto.
In Europe, Cindy has performed in Italy, Spain, Norway and France whilst in the UK, she has given both chamber and solo recitals at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, St Martin-in-the-Fields in London as part of the Pianists of the World Series, Malvern, Oxford, Windsor, Aylesbury, Manchester, Buckingham University and the Pump Room in Bath.
Cindy’s future engagements include a series of four recitals with violinist Kitty Cheung performing the complete Medtner’s sonatas for violin and piano at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and performance at Carnegie Hall with Romer String Quartet in 2016.
Cindy received both her Bachelor and Master’s degrees in music from King’s College, University of London, with high distinction in performance studies. In particular, she was awarded a scholarship from the Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust for her Master’s degree. This was followed by two years of postgraduate work at the Royal Academy of Music. She has also participated in masterclasses by Georges Pludermacher, Pascal Deveyon and Dominique Merlet in France.
Cindy is currently the Chairperson of the Royal Academy of Music HK Alumni Association. She is also the founder of the “Young Musicians Series”, a concert series providing young and outstanding soloists and chamber ensembles more performing opportunities. Regular recitals for solo and chamber music have been held since 2009. This fully demonstrates her passion and dedication to piano education. Besides, she has been invited to be one of the jury members for the 15th Hong Kong-Asia Open Piano Competition 2009 and the First Macau-Asia Open Piano Competition in October 2010.
Cindy’s teacher includes Choi Sown Le, Ruth Nye, Aaron Shorr and Alfred Lee.
